Jacoby Brissett will reportedly transfer to North Carolina State after never having an opportunity to start at quarterback for Florida. The dual-threat QB will be a good fit under incoming coach Dave Doeren.
Former Florida quarterback Jacoby Brissett will head to North Carolina State, according to Jeremy Fowler of CBS Sports:
Brissett was deciding between NC State and West Virginia. He'll sit out the upcoming season before having the opportunity to start in 2014 -- something he likely never would have had at Florida.
The quarterback was considered one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the nation coming out of West Palm Beach, but seemed unlikely to ever get a chance to be a starter at Florida. Brissett had hoped for an opportunity to replace Jeff Brantley, backing up the senior as a true freshman, but was clearly behind fellow sophomore Jeff Driskel in 2012. While Driskel threw for 1646 yards, Brissett only had 35 passing attempts, 22 of them in a blowout win late in the year against Jacksonville State. Driskel is the presumptive starter for the next two seasons, prompting Brissett to transfer.
With Mike Glennon graduating, there's an opening at the starter position in Raleigh. The Wolfpack's new coach, Dave Doeren, was behind a dual-threat quarterback in Northern Illinois, as Jordan Lynch set quarterback rushing records and led the Huskies to a bid in this year's Orange Bowl after winning a MAC Championship.
